It takes courage to DREAM
A couple years ago I read a book that had homework. It asked me to write down my dreams in 12 different areas of life. I had to write them out. Then notice how judgment and pessimism sneakily crept in. Then I wrote out all my frustrations, alllll the reasons why stuff won’t work. And then, I had to rewrite those dreams. Phew. A ton to do right?! But…. it didn’t stop there. I then had to pick three areas I was unhappy and then READ my new dreams OUT LOUD to three close friends. Talk about feeling hella vulnerable.
The weirdest part to me… was that sometimes you share your BIG dreams. Like, no hold back dreams, and you’re met with other people’s judgement and pessimism. It was always interesting to me that other people were trying to cage in my dreams. Wanting me to stick to reality. And while I can respect reality… dreams aren’t necessarily about that.
Dreams are a space to allow your heart to swell, to feel expansive, to feel inspiration and HOPE. Big dreams are about wonder and possibility. And so, we have to bring awareness to the chitti vritti— the mental chatter in all our heads— that does a number on our dreams. We need to start noticing our sneaky limiting thoughts. And we need to create space to dream. We have to make space in our lives for our dreams. We are the designers of our life.
I love to experiment with mudras in my practice. I find Kali mudra to be an especially powerful one. To find this powerful seal, bring your hands together and interlace your fingers. Extend your index fingers. Take a few breaths and feel the energetics of this fierce mudra.
Kali is the goddess of destruction, death and transformation. She clears your path to make space for the new. This mudra activates energy in the upper chakras and helps you purify negative thoughts and patterns. It also cultivates courage and inner strength, empowering you to stand in your truth. Remind yourself of your strength and ability to overcome obstacles. Use this powerful tool to clear your path and create change.
It takes courage to dream. It takes tremendous courage to open your heart and express your truth.
What is your dream life? What does it look like? How do you feel in it? Visualize yourself living your dream— picture yourself, radiant and expansive.
When you feel ready, ask your heart “what is my intention?” Be open and curious about what comes up for you. Practice non-judgment when ideas pop up. Allow yourself to float in the realm of possibility. Setting an intention is all about choosing something to cultivate or amplify. You might want to set an intention around feelings, mindset or action. It could be something like:
I am confident and capable.
I am worthy of my wildest dreams and boldly leap into the unknown.
My dreams deserve creative amplification.
Bring one hand to your heart, one hand to your belly. Take a deep breath here. Know that you are worthy of your wildest dreams.
Breathe deep into the knowing that you are worthy and capable of achieving your dream life.
